Everyday my garlic press get closer to breaking, so I’m always on the look out for a good replacement. However it seems the one thing they can’t solve is how to puree or mince garlic. I’ve seen stacks and stacks of different products all claiming to be easy to use and clean, but so far none have been ideal. The new Garlic Twist seems to be the most recent attempt at this difficult problem. Made of an extremely durable polycarbonate, the Garlic Twist separates into two pieces, each with a line of plastic teeth inside. You place the garlic inside, and then press the lid till the teeth just reach the garlic. Then you TWIST. The rotating teeth shred through the garlic layer by layer, resulting in evenly minced garlic. When finished you turn it all the way to the right until it will go no further, and then the same to the left. With a final small twist you open it to find two tidy triangles of pureed garlic. Simple and easy, the Garlic Twist just needs a rinse of water after use. Apparently gentle enough for even those with week wrists, the Garlic Twist can also mince ginger, peppers and onions. Available in red, blue and clear you can find the Garlic Twist for £12.99 from an Amazon.co.uk retailer or $14.95 from an Amazon.com retailer.
