So have this heavy pan of water and you need to carefully pour it through a colander without spilling boiling water all over your feet...sound familiar? If you worry about this two handed juggling act, Joshep Joseph have created the new Scoop Colander. Heat resistant up to 270°C, the ergonomic scoop allows you to safely lift food out of boiling water or even hot oil. Ideal if you have little ones under foot, the Joseph Joseph Scoop is much safer than carrying hot pans across the kitchen. It's small enough to pop in a drawer, and goes where ever you need it to. A handy utensil to have around, the Joseph Joseph Scoop is £7.99 from Lakeland.

I'm a huge fan of the PoachPods we featured back in 2008, so I'm intrigued by the new Food Pod. The strange yellow basket clips to the side of your pan and allows you to boil, blanch and steam. Originally designed for boiling eggs, the silicone cradles your eggs protecting them from bouncing into the pan or each other. And when it's done cooking you can just lift the Food Pod from the pan, with no need to chase things around with a spoon. Big enough to hold a dozen eggs, the basket can also be used for vegetables or even shellfish. An intriguing new gadget from the makers of the Poach Pod, the Food Pod is £9.99 from Lakeland.

There is a raised cup for your egg, and three raised fins in which to slot your bread. There is even a rubbery base to keep it from sliding around. Perfect for breakfast trays, the combined Egg Cup & Toast Rack is £6.99 from Lakeland.

I have a delicious White Chocolate Cheesecake recipe that I often break out when I need to take a dessert to dinner parties. I currently pop my Springform Cake Tin inside a traditional cake tin, but it rattles around in the car and is tricky to get back out. Lakeland have found a simple solution in the Springform Cake Tin with Lid. The Springform Pan comes with a clip on plastic cover that has folding handles built into the lid. At just £9.99 from Lakeland, the Springform Cake Tin with Lid is an easy way to protect your scrumptious creations while on the road.

When I was growing up, I used to love those mornings when Mum made pancakes. I used to feel guilty though, as it was so time consuming that she spent the whole time running between the kitchen and the table. The new Tefal Crêpe Pro lets you create those delicious breakfast treats right at the table. Turning a lazy Saturday breakfast into meaningful family time, the Tefal Crêpe Pro lets you talk while you cook. The electric crêpe maker features a Thermo-Spot which changes when it reaches the correct temperature. Designed to distribute heat evenly across the plate, the non-stick surface can also be removed for easy cleaning. Make professional quality crêpes right at your table, the Tefal Crêpe Pro is £74.99 from Lakeland.

I love the simple practicality of the WMF Stacking Bread Bins. Rather than take up counter space, the WMF Multipurpose Bread Bins can help you organise and tidy that important workspace. The boxes neatly stack, creating a handy storage tower. The sliding front door means you can store items on top of the bread bin and still easily reach inside. A lovely bamboo chopping board rests on the very top container, ready to be lifted off when needed. Combining Cromargan stainless steel with polyamides creates a modern minimalist style with a masculine touch. Despite the prevalence of posh pizza restaurants, there is something disconcerting about eating pizza with a knife and fork. For a food most often served out of a box, it feels ridiculous to cut it up into bite sized pieces. However Guzzini have created a special set of cutlery for just such an occasion. Instead of a knife, the set includes a small pizza wheel on a long slim handle. I'm still not totally sure pizza should be cut up, but at least this set is designed to slice quickly and cleanly through the base. Featuring the brilliant vibrant colours Guzzini are famous for, the Fork and Cutter clip together for tidy storage. Available from Amazon UK, the Guzzini Fork & Pizza Cutter Sets are £19 each.
