For the last few years I've been really disappointed by the Debenham's kitchen department. They stopped carrying really interesting and unique products, instead opting for gimmicky tat. So I'm really thrilled to see they've brought their designer concept to the kitchen department. The new House & Home Collection by Lisa Stickley offers a contemporary rustic charm. Using a sponge-ware inspired pattern, these tin containers are decorated with small blossoms and leaves. Available in pink and green, the House & Home Collections add a vibrant splash of colour to any kitchen. Exclusive to Debenhams, the Lisa Stickley House & Home collection starts at £7.50 for a tea, sugar or coffee canister.

Just the name SodaStream brings back memories of big hair styles and short shorts, but though it seems like a 80s invention, the Soda Stream is actually much older. First invented in 1903 by Guy Gilbey, the Soda Stream has been adding sparkle to drinks for over a hundred years. Now updated for the 21st century, the SodaStream has been given a sleek and sophisticated style. Combining brushed stainless-steel and matte black, these bubbly classics are perfect for trendy home bars. Though we remember them from childhood, I have it on good authority that they offer adult fun too. Try sparkling up your cocktails or spirits for a creative party drinks. A brilliant update of a retro favourite, the SodaStream is available in two styles from Lakeland.

While floral patterns have always been used to decorate china, that doesn't mean they have to be traditional and twee. In the Linea Watercolour Dinnerware light coloured flowers are sprinkled across a soft cream china. Capturing a quiet cheerfulness with its pale pink, light green and deep purple blooms, the Linea Watercolour Dinnerware offers a modern femininity. With a lovely scalloped edge, the plates mirror those delicate petal edges. A gorgeous interpretation of traditional themes, the Linea by Portmeirion Watercolour Dinnerware is available from House of Fraser.

Organised by British Baker Magazine, this week celebrates the fashionable and tasty cupcake. Taking Britain by storm, these small cakes let us indulge our sweet tooth in a nice sensible portion size. And while cake decorating classes have been popular for years, cupcakes allow you to try your skills on a smaller scale. In fact cupcakes are so popular there's a whole cupboard-full of kitchen products specifically for them.

Silicone cupcake cases are very popular, back in March we featured these Tea Cup Cakes. The perfect choice for a tea party, these cases add a touch of whimsy and charm to your baked treats.

Once you've decorated all your cupcakes, you want to protect them while you travel. The Lakeland Cupcake Carrier has twelve raised rings, which keep them from sliding around. Even better, the board in the Lakeland Cupcake Carrier can be turned over so you also get a smooth base for transporting cakes.

If you just want to take one cupcake, say in someone's packed lunch, the Lakeland Individual Cupcake Carrier it what you're looking for. Perfect for fairy cakes, these little cases will protect your decorations and icing.

And finally if cupcakes just aren't big enough for you, we've featured two Giant Cupcake Moulds. Whether you prefer silicone or aluminium, the Giant Cupcake Mould make a delicious dessert you can feed the whole family.

We'll be featuring more cupcake products the rest of the week. For more information about any of the products highlighted here, just click the links below to read the original articles.

Cupcakes are more than delicious cakes, they definitely conjure images of domestic glamour. Those perfectly decorated cakes bring to mind the 50s housewife who bakes while wearing pearls. A rose-tinted nostalgia many of us wish for, the cupcake seems to represent everything we want to be. We might not all be creative, talented domestic goddesses but we can still embrace the fun. Debenhams have a Large Cupcake Storage Jar that is just adorable. Quirky and charming, this ceramic Cupcake Jar is perfect for biscuits. Add a spark of fun to your kitchen counter, the Large Cupcake Storage Jar is £20 from Debenhams.

I love stumbling across items that are simply weird and wonderful. We all know the name Wedgwood, but it usually brings to mind elegant china and chintz flowers not formidable figures like these. Combining Chinese and Greek influences with the Wedgwood heritage archive, they have created an opulent collection of tableware. The Black 'Dynasty' Salt & Pepper Shakers recall the exotic antiques you'd have found in stately homes around Britain. Eye-catching pieces that will certainly be a talking point, the Black 'Dynasty' Shakers add a touch of gothic sophistication to the table. A perfect choice for those who find inspiration in world art & culture, the Wedgwood Black 'Dynasty' Salt & Pepper Shakers are £35 from Debenhams.

I don't think anyone can deny that autumn has appeared with a vengeance! Blustery, cold and very, very wet, I'm already looking forward to a traditional roast dinner; Yorkshire puddings, steamed veg and a mound of delicious mashed potatoes. The trick to perfect mash as always been to try and smash all the lumps, without over working it into a gluey mess. The foolproof solution is to use a Potato Ricer. Pop your potatoes into the metal basket and press the plunger, forcing the potato through the holes at the bottom. Eliminating lumps in one go; a Ricer ensures a perfect texture every time. Now Chef'n has improved the Potato Ricer with its patented gear ratchet system. The gears take all the strain, so it requires an impressive 65% less effort, making it quick and easy to use. A must have for mash lovers and ideal for big Christmas meals, the Chef'n Potato Ricer is £29.99 from Lakeland.

Not all cooking is elegant and refined, some of my favourite dishes are common working class meals eaten for years by miners and dockworkers. So why not embrace these fabulous comfort foods with these cheeky oven mitts. Featuring a pair of beefy hands, they'll remind everyone who's in charge of the kitchen. Hairy wrists are ringed by gold chains while LOVE & HATE are 'tattooed' across the fingers. A great choice for the masculine chef (with a sense of humour!), the Love & Hate Oven Gloves are £15 from BerryRed.

If you love trying new recipes and experimenting in the kitchen, you really want practical and versatile cookware. Durable hardwearing dishes that can be used in several situations, so you're ready to tackle any recipe you find. Maxwell Williams sent us one of their 1.8L Microstoven Casserole dishes from their new collection as a brilliant example. Using a new ingredient, Spodumene, the stoneware dishes can be used on gas and electric hobs (medium heat), in the oven, in the microwave, and are dishwasher & freezer-safe. They also feature a Xylan non-stick coating, so they are easier to clean. I'll admit I wasn't sure how they'd do in the microwave, it's difficult to use your dishes if they get boiling hot when you cook, but we were pleasantly surprised. Even after being used on high, the handles were still cool enough to touch! Brilliant pieces that can go straight from oven-to-table, they are very light weight when compared with other stoneware. Available in red or black, the collection includes 19 different dishes, from ramekins and casseroles to bakers and tajines available from Cook in Style.
