Emma Bridgewater is well known for their British made creamware, so it's quite a surprise to see them branching out with this gorgeous new tray. Made in Sweden by Ary, they also offer high environmental credentials in addition to their 50 years of experience. Made from Scandinavian Birch these trays are carved from a single sheet of wood. With a fine grain and no joins, the Polka Dot Tray will last for years. The top of the tray is decorated with rings of pretty polka dots that create a mosaic effect, while the underside reveals the beautiful wood. A large tray at 49cm wide, this statement piece will add fabulous bold colour to your table. A unique addition to any Bridgewater collection, the Wooden Polka Dot Tray is £49.95 from Emma Bridgewater.

Emma Bridgewater glassware is expensive, but it is also gorgeous. I did boggle a moment when I saw the new Bridgewater Glass Honey Pot, but actually it's surprisingly versatile. Perfect for honey, jams and marmalade, the glass reveals the lush rich colours. The weighty glass pot is etched with the familiar Black Toast text reading 'Honey & Marmalade', while the lid has the convenient notch for the serving spoon. A brilliant choice for your cranberry sauce this Christmas, the Glass Honey Pot is £49.95 from Emma Bridgewater.

Knowing how much we love the Black + Blum lunchboxes, it's no surprise that I'm tempted by the Lunch Pot. A set of two stacking pots, this allows you to pack both dry and wet components. The polypropylene container is microwave and dishwasher safe, while the watertight locking seal makes it perfect for soup, cereal, and yoghurt. So if you love a mid day cereal snack, the Lunch Pot will ensure you can enjoy every crunchy bite. Then when you are finished, the smaller pot pops inside the larger pot for compact travel. The set also includes a spork and convenient carry strap. A great addition to your lunchbox collection, the Black + Blum Lunch Pot is available in three colours from Amazon UK.

We love the Black + Blum Box Appetit Lunchbox, so when we spotted the smaller Black + Blum Bento Box we had to try it out. My husband loves the compact size, which perfectly fits two half sandwiches stacked one on top of the other. Like its bigger bother, the Bento Box includes a small sauce pot and special fork with a handy cutting edge. The lid has a silicone seal that prevents spills and a raised ring designed to hold dipping sauces like soy sauce or salad dressing. The sleek sweeping bowl adds sophisticated style your favourite leftovers. A brilliant way to spice up your packed lunches the Black + Blum Bento Box is £14 from Amazon UK.

You don't have to be in Britain long to learn that tea is a national institution. In times of trouble or stress, many of us turn to this reassuring drink. By combining two of our national institutions, designer Takae Mizutani has created this gorgeous Sugar Bowl and Creamer Set. The 'Tea Rules the World' transforms the iconic lion and unicorn from the British coat of arms into sleek contemporary tableware. The small gold accents add just a touch of glamour to otherwise simple forms. I love the lion's stylised mane, which gives it a bold strong profile. Made in Cornwall, England this earthenware clay Sugar Bowl and Creamer set is available in a white or natural finish. A brilliant addition to your favourite tea set, the Tea Rules the World Sugar Bowl and Creamer Set is £44 from Not on the High Street.

I love Christmas and I'll use any excuse to break out my Emma Bridgewater Tableware. I like to add a touch of holiday cheer to my Black Toast place settings with some special Christmas serving pieces. This year Emma Bridgewater have released the charming Joy pattern. A busy pattern of red and green hearts, it celebrates the Christmas spirit. I've put the special Collector's Club Mince Pie Plate (£19.95) at the top of my Christmas list. But if you're not a Bridgewater Collector's Club Member there are plenty of other options. There are three types of bowl as well as a cake plate and comport. Though my favourite is the Joy Gravy Jug; the repeating words really accent the simple form. A brilliant selection of festive tableware, the Joy Collection is available online from Emma Bridgewater.

Want a sneak-peak at some of the wonderful items in our Ultimate Christmas Cookware Competition? In addition to offering you a wonderful prize, Mermaid have also sent us a few pieces to try out. This week we used the Mermaid Roasting Dish to prepare this gorgeous spaghetti squash. I love how deep the
Roasting Dish is, it's perfect for a Sunday roast tucked up with veg. The shaped sides offer a secure grip, so it's easy to move in and out of the oven. And once seasoned, the hard-anodised finished is like non-stick - but there's no danger of it getting damaged and flaking off. A brilliant piece of cookware that you'll be using for years to come, the Mermaid Roasting Dishes are available in two sizes from John Lewis

When cooking vegetables, I love to steam them. My little folding steamer even comes with us on holiday! So when I saw the new Joseph Joseph Lotus Steamer I was intrigued. It looks identical to my much loved steaming basket, but is made entirely from plastic- the advantage of course, is that it won't scratch your non-stick pans. The flexing leaves will adjust to fit any size pan, and the central handle features a heat-resistant finger guard that helps prevent scalding. A brilliant choice for modern cookware, the colourful Joseph Joseph Lotus Steamer is £12 from John Lewis.

TV chefs make cooking look so neat & easy, but in my kitchen it's a lot more chaotic. I think a lot of it is in the prep. They have all those pretty bowls of prepared ingredients, ready to be poured in at a moment's notice. If you'd like the same easy flowing experience maybe you should invest in these Pinch+Pour Prep Bowls.
The clever design has a soft silicone gusset; with just a gentle squeeze it forms a convenient spout. A brilliant way to ensure everything goes in the pan; the Pinch+Pour Bowls are perfect for liquids, herbs and other ingredients. And when not in use they'll nest neatly together to save on space. Each bowl does have measurements marked inside, though it's not clear which scale is used. A brilliant choice for organised cooks, the Pinch+Pour Prep Bowls are £12 from Firebox.

Inspired by antiques and vintage homewares, the Katie Alice Collection combines soft polka dot patterns with classic florals for a sweet contemporary style. We had chance to check them out in person courtesy of Creative-Tops. In a palette of light teals, pinks and creams, the Katie Alice Collection brings modern colour to a quaint vintage pattern. The Breakfast Cup has a lovely round shape perfect for that first cup of tea. It's a brilliant addition to your kitchen dresser with the matching Katie Alice Tea Pot. Though the porcelain Tea Pot claims to be a six cup, it looks a bit small to me. The stoneware Kitchen Mixing Bowl in contrast is a lovely large bowl perfect for batters and whipping up cream. The handle ensures you'll have a sure grip, while spout aids in tidy pouring. A wonderful range that includes everything from aprons to roasting dishes, trays to storage jars, the Katie Alice Collection is available online from English-Table.com.

I've never really had an urge to relive my school years, but this cute Cath Kidston Lunch Box might convince me! I'm not sure young kids would really appreciate the pretty muted stars, but they're surprisingly sophisticated. Easy to wipe clean, the Mini Shooting Stars Lunchbag will help keep their sandwiches cool too. You can protect those same sandwiches from being squished with the Elephant & Circus Kids Lunch Box. Decorated with children riding a happy elephant, it has a touch of nostalgic fun. The reuseable box has an easy close lid and ensures your bread will stay fresh. Available online from Cath Kidston, the Elephant & Circus Lunch Box is £4 while the Mini Shooting Star Lunchbag is £18.

In the last few weeks I've become obsessed with shelves. Though I can't change my kitchen, I've realised I can make the space I have work better. One of my big complaints is an awkward bit of empty wall I can't use, but one of Ella's Kitchen Five Scoop Shelves would make brilliant use of the space. Shallow enough that it won't intrude into the kitchen, it's still big enough to store loads of things. Personally, I'd fill the top shelf with our everyday spices that currently clutter the counters. And the middle shelf would be perfect for our strange collection of olive oil (am I the only person with more than 5 bottles open bottles of oil?). The metal scoops are perfect for your every day ingredients like flour, and you can hang tea towels and keys on the hooks below. Even better, I can still hide my rubbish bin underneath! Made and hand-painted in Shropshire, the Ella's Kitchen Five Scoop Shelf has been added to the top of my wish list. Available online from Ella's Kitchen Company, the Five Scoop Shelf Unit comes in either a Snow Cloud or Antique White finish for £349 or £379 for a bespoke colour.

From the royal weddings to the impending Olympics, it seems we have lots of reasons to celebrate our fair islands. The new Great Britain Collection by Emma Bridgewater features the repeated silhouette of the British Isles. What at first glance looks like random blue splodges quickly resolve into familiar forms. I'll admit I think this pattern works better on pieces like the Four Cup Teapot, but a complete table setting is available. There's even a cute matching tea towel for in the kitchen. A subtle patriotic pattern that doesn't focus on history, the Great Britain Collection is available online from Emma Bridgewater.

One of the unexpected bonuses of joining Twitter is the competitions. I don't specifically go looking for them, but every so often an irresistible comp pops up in my timeline. Last week it was @Good_Natured who were promoting their Facebook Caption Competition for an Emma Bridgewater Serving Bowl. I'd been eyeing these up recently in John Lewis and as a big Bridgewater fan how could I resist? I literally cheered when they announced the winner, which earned me a fairly odd look from my husband. Currently Bridgewater is my 'best china' so only comes out when we've got guests coming round. While sometimes we serve a full meal, it's often just an assortment of nibbles. Last Christmas I'd realised we really needed more large bowls for the buffet table. This Polka Dot Serving Bowl is perfect for the occasion. It has a lovely shape and the pretty dots accent the natural colours in your salad, fruit or nibbles. A bit pricey at £44.95 (from Emma Bridgewater) the Polka Dot Serving Bowl is a practical piece you'll use time and time again.

One thing I hate doing is the washing up, so anything that saves me even a few gruelling minutes at the sink is going to get my attention. The new Joseph Joseph Mash&Serve is exactly like it sounds. The ergonomic tool blends masher and spoon into one. So you simply mash up your spuds and then neatly scoop them onto the plate. Made from a toughened nylon, the Mash&Serve is a great choice for non-stick pans. Perfect for small kitchens or a student flat, the multifunctional Joseph Joseph 'Mash and Serve' offers designer flair for £9.00.

Well the ticket confirmation emails have finally been sent out, and lucky souls around the country are now waiting with baited breath to see which Olympic tickets they've bought. Even if you're one of the many disappointed, you can cheer up. You'll probably have a better view and a comfier chair watching it at home on the telly. And just because you can't be there in person doesn't mean you can't celebrate! With this quirky United Kingdom Tea Set by Ali Miller, you can savour afternoon tea in contemporary style while still enjoying the tennis. These tradition bone china forms are hand-printed with patriotic, if unexpected patterns. The outside is decorated with a black & white UK weather map accented with old world sailing ships. A splash of contrast is added with the addition of red royal crowns, which if I'm honest reminds me most of Monty Python. An unusual design that blends classic British imagery together to create a new contemporary style, the United Kingdom Teapot and Teacup is available online exclusively from Rockett St George.

Measuring cups may not be as common over here, but when I was living overseas they were definitely a kitchen staple. So even though I use them less frequently each year, I still have a fondness for these handy kitchen tools. I love the new Rimple Measuring Cups by Jme, they're designed by British ceramist Graham Jowitt in the Cotswold countryside. I love the hand-thrown texture that is accented by white translucent glaze. Each is stamped inside with the measurement and features a small spout for easy pouring. It's unusual for measuring cups not to have handles, but it gives them a pleasing balance and allows them to nest neatly within each other. They're even pretty enough to double as serving bowls or simply hold prepared ingredients until you're ready. Gorgeous bowls with a multitude of uses, the Rimple Measuring Cups are £12.50 from the Jme online store.

I'll admit I'm not usually a fan of magnetic knife boards as they don't offer much in the way of protection for knives or fingers, but there's something quite engaging about the Jme Stuck on You Magnetic Oak Knife Block. Firstly it's hard to ignore the natural oak finish. While not particularly unique, it does add warmth and friendliness to what otherwise could be a harsh clinical form. Truly I think it's the complex form I respond to, the geometrically strict shape is softened by the gentle curves at top and bottom. In fact I think it's the small platform at the top from which the steel hangs that transforms the shape from a brutally simple form into an engaging kitchen tool. Created by London design company Morph, the Jme Stuck on You Magnetic Knife Block is deceptively simple streamlined solution. With no slots for food to hide, the easy to clean Stuck on You Knife Block is £41.00 from the Jme Online Store.

One thing I really love about the Jme Collection is that it simply bursts with products I want to pick up and use. Brilliant use of natural materials creates engaging tools you want to explore. The Luna Sauce Boat for example pairs pristine white porcelain with warm rich wood. Perfect for gravy or custard, the side handle gives you a clear view what you're pouring. If you only want a touch of sauce there is a lovely wooden ladle with a deep sculptural bowl. Designed by Russell Pinch, the Luna Sauce Boat is an exercise in pleasing proportions. A beautiful piece of minimalist servingware, the Luna Sauce Boat comes with matching spoon and trivet for £26.50 from the Jme online Store.

Napkins always seem so neglected; I mean we see so many tea towels decorated with vibrant contemporary designs, but leave our napkins bare? Charlotte Fleming is exploring this unused potential with her whimsical coastal inspired sketches. My favourite is her Romantic Napkin Set, which uses a bold red ink to create a charming message in a bottle. The message reads: "Let there be you, Let there be me, Let there be oysters under the sea, Let there be love." Perfect for a quiet dinner-for-two, the napkins add artistry and character to your table settings. Featuring British designs hand-printed in Cornwall, these textiles capture the magic of our sea-side towns. Made from 100% drill cotton, a set of two Romantic Napkins are £12 from Made With Love.

We have a large pizza wheel that I adore, but I know its days are numbered. So I've been keeping an eye out for a promising replacement, the Joseph Joseph Scoot looks ideal. The four inch steel wheel is held in curved plastic case. The palm held design makes it easier to cut through pizza, sandwiches and more. But it's the integrated blade guard that really grabs my attention. With a press of a button a clear plastic cover swings around to cover the blade. Safe to chuck in a drawer, the blade will stay sharp white protecting your fingers and other utensils. A clever new product from British designers Joseph Joseph, the Scoot Pizza Wheel is £12.

When you've spent ages in the kitchen perfecting your culinary skills, you don't want flashy tableware stealing your glory. The gorgeous pieces by Just Slate strike the perfect balance that show your creations at their best. The Just Slate 3-Tier Cake Stand for example is an elegant minimalist design that sets beautiful Scottish slate as the backdrop for your delicious cakes. Three flat circular stones stand suspended on a plain steel rod, providing a stark contrast to your soft organic cakes. Richly textured slate is a brilliant complement for both modern and rustic kitchens, and the Just Slate 3-Tier Cake Stand is £50 from John Lewis or Lakeland.

It would be wonderful to have extra time devoted just to cooking, but realistically most of us are juggling six things at once. A good kitchen timer can be just the thing standing between you and burned dinner. Joseph Joseph have created a striking minimalist timer perfect for contemporary kitchens. The simple cylinder has a brilliant white dial that breaks through the surface. To set, you just twist the top bezel until the correct time is revealed on the dial. The dramatic contrast is easy to read even from across the kitchen. Then when the time is up a classic bell rings. I was so excited to find this quirky tea towel over at ToDryFor. I immediately recognised John Allison's work, better known for his webcomics Bad Machinery & Scary-Go-Round. A local Manchester artist, Allison has a charming style that creates unique personality and charm in his characters. The tea towel features a mischievous looking Wendigo, a fearsome creature from Algonquian mythology. In the run up to the Queen's coronation the sales of televisions soared, but in our age of celebrity and internet these events often seen as irrelevant. But even the jaded and sarcastic have their say with these off-beat commemorative mugs. So whether you're jealous of Kate Middleton or simply glad to have the day off, these are mugs that express our modern sentiments. And for those of us with Facebook addictions, there's even a mug that updates Prince William's status message with "29 April 2011 at Westminster Abbey" (which Prince Charles, Camilla & HRH The Queen and 6,000,000 others 'like'). For the most unique and contemporary designer royal wedding keepsakes, tea towels are leading the pack. The 'I Do Tea Towel' was created by Swedish designer Maria Dahlgren and offers an understated take on the royal wedding. Featuring two love birds in a big leafy tree, the towel simply reads 'Westminster Abbey In London 29 April 2011'. The beauty is in the details though, with the letters 'W + K' carved into the tree trunk and 'I Do' picked out in blue letters (and don't miss the crown on that love bird!) A gorgeous design perfect for the occasion, the I Do Tea Towel is £11.99 from Firebox.

A vocal proponent for British industry it's no surprise that Emma Bridgewater had embraced the future nuptials of William and Kate with their Royal Wedding Collection. The mug and plate are decorated with a beautifully detailed lithograph featuring an image of West Minster Abbey, the wedding date and the happy couple's names. With a lovely pink gradation the collection has a sophistication and charm. My favourite though is the William & Kate Scalloped Bowl. Its unusual shape makes it immediately stand out from the rest, while the lion crest marks it as a truly royal event. You'd have to be living under a rock the last few month not to realise there's a Royal Wedding fast approaching, and this has brought a flurry of themed kitchen items. With everyone trying to cash in on this national event, the selection can range from charming or ironic to horribly tacky. So this week we thought we'd highlight some of our favourites: first up is this adorable Corgi Royal Wedding Tea Towel. Designed by Gemma Correll for ToDryFor, this cute design avoids the common boring themes. Instead a friendly corgi is framed with in a classic diamond solitaire. Hand-drawn in a contemporary style in a lovely brown palette, the Corgi Royal Wedding Tea Towel offers a modern twist to the traditional keepsake, for just £9.95 from ToDryFor.

There's something quite intimate about sharing food with someone, so it seems like the perfect choice for Valentine's Day. My current favourite is the Dotty Fondue Set from Cath Kidston. Suitable for cheese, meat or chocolate, it's a brilliant centre piece for your table. Bright and cheerful, the white enamel bowl is decorated with fun multicoloured spots, while the chunky metal handles offer a sure grip when taking to the table. Personally, I don't want to go out for dinner on Valentine's Day. The heaving restaurants & the set menus just don't say romance to me. So if I'm going to cook a special meal at home, I like to dress the part. The Cath Kidston's Vintage Cowboy Apron is perfect. The heart-shaped apron features the western inspired cowboy print finished with a frilly gingham edge. A fabulous retro apron for the culinary Annie Oakley, the Cowboy Applique Vintage Apron is £16.00 from Cath Kidston.

Nothing says kitchen to me like a big wooden spoon and a heavy mixing bowl, and the cherry red Mixing Bowl from Jamie Oliver fits the bill. Called the "One Big Mix Up Pudding Bowl and Spoon Set", which is a bit of a mouthful, this stoneware is perfect for making family sized puddings. With a thick rim that offers a secure grip, and an easy to pour spout, the Big Mix Up Pudding Bowl is brilliant for baking. The sturdy wooden spoon handle is branded With the Jme logo, while the Mixing Bowl is marked with handy measurements down the inside. A kitchen classic, the One Big Mix Up Pudding Bowl and Spoon Set is £30.00 from Jme.

Known for her iconic patterns, Orla Kiely creates gorgeous retro graphics. While previously these patterns have been used on handbags and clothes, now you can also find them in your kitchen. My current favourite is the Brown Poppy Meadow pattern, the warm yellows and browns are pulled right from the 70s. Wonderfully nostalgic, the collection includes a butter dish, teapot & lasagne dish. A dynamic design for both retro diva and fashoinista, the Poppy Meadow Collection is available from John Lewis.

Yesterday as we were Christmas shopping, Dan accused me of being obsessed with Christmas Puddings. While that might be an exaggeration, who can resist featuring the AGA Figgy Pudding Collection? A charming and fun collection of kitchen textiles, the range includes an apron, pot grab, pan handle cover, and chef's pad. I love retro glamour, so the half apron has always held a nostalgic appeal. Tied over those wide fifties skirts, the half apron embraces that domestic goddess style. Flaired out from a vibrant red belt, the apron is decorated with three charming Christmas trees in those gorgeous Kidston colours. Perfect for adding some Christmas spirit to your cooking and baking, the Christmas Trees Half Apron is £16 online from Cath Kidston.

Last Christmas we featured the M&S Ruby Tableware, which offered clean lines in a rich red colour. So when M&S asked us to write another article I immediately knew what to write about. Their new Rouge Fleur Tableware offers the same festive red, but with a busy floral pattern. A brilliant contrast to the geometric Ruby Tableware, the Rouge Fleur has a softer decorative style. The china plates are ringed in red with large white blooms, while the cups and bowls are decorated completely in reversed colours. Festive & bright without specific Christmas decorations, they can be used the whole year round. Available exclusively from M&S, the Fleur Pattern is also available in Black. Whether you're cooking Christmas dinner or just preparing a special meal for two, you want to look your best even when in the kitchen. Hotpoint have collaborated with British designer Celia Birtwell to create a glamorous apron with her iconic patterns. Famous for her prints in the 60s and 70s, Birtwell's Candy Flower print captures the fun energy of that bygone era. Hotpoint kindly sent us one of these limited edition aprons to try out. Designed to have an attractive neck line and to flatter women's curves, the Candy Flower Apron also features a gathered pocket and ties with a big bow. Big enough to protect your best dress while you cook, the muted colours are perfect for any occasion. A charming apron for any domestic goddess, the Candy Flower Apron is £35 from Celia Birtwell.

I've reviewed lots of garlic tools and it's apparently quite difficult to get just right. Sent to us by LifeStylish.com, the Joseph Joseph Rocker Garlic Crusher is a sleek modern design that rocks back and forth across the garlic clove. It would be perfect for those with weak hands and those who have trouble with the handheld garlic presses. The underside of the Rocker Crusher looks like a honeycomb, the thin edges forcing the garlic through the holes at the top. My only reservation is that the garlic comes out a bit chunky, though you can easily crush it a few times. Then, when you're all finished, rub your fingers over the Garlic Rocking Crusher while running it under the tap. It will remove that obnoxious garlic smell from your hands. A unique tool from British designers Joseph Joseph, the Rocker Garlic Crusher is £14.50 from LifeStylish.com.

These days there's a gadget for everything, but our kitchens are only so big! Thus when a tool manages to combine several features and still work brilliantly, it's worth investing in! So when LifeStylish offered to send us the Joseph Joseph Rotary Peeler we couldn't wait to try it out. Within the round plastic case are three different blades. First there's the standard peeler, then a serrated blade for soft fruit like kiwis and tomatoes, and finally there's the julienne blade which makes coleslaw a breeze. To change the blade you just press the metal coin, which pops up so you can turn the colourful triangle in the centre. Despite the unusual shape, the Rotary Peeler is surprisingly comfortable to use. Even the julienne blade slides easily through your vegetables. Then when you are finished just give the clear a slight twist and it opens for easy cleaning. A versatile tool that hardly takes up space, the Joseph Joseph Rotary Peeler is £12.00 from Lifestylish.com.

I've already started my Christmas list and right at the top if it are the Emma Bridgewater Glass Dessert Bowls. I really wish I had one of these bowls now so I could take a photo myself, as the website photo just doesn't do these gorgeous Glass Bowls justice. Thick and weighty, I've been anxiously waiting for their release ever since we got that sneak peek into the Bridgewater Design Studio back in June. Similar to the classic Black Toast pattern, each bowl is engraved with frosty 'Strawberries & Cream' letters. I'm planning to ask for one for Christmas and another for my birthday, so hopefully I'll collect a set of four by the end of the year. If you'd like some yourself, the Glass Dessert Bowls are £29.95 from the Emma Bridgewater online store.

I love eating pistachios, but it's often awkward to finding somewhere to put all the shells. Ever tried balancing two bowls on your knee? It's a great way to spill everything on the floor. So when I saw the new Double Dish from Joseph Joseph I was thrilled. The lovely folk at Lifestylish.com, who've opened a new kitchen store filled with items we've featured, were kind enough to send us one to try out. It's is simply genius. Made from a thick durable plastic, the two separate bowls stack neatly together. White on the outside and a lovely Kitchen Critic green on the inside, the wavy base is sculpted to create three openings below the shallow top bowl. In a single unit, you both serve your treats and hide the rubbish from sight. Of course you can also use them separately too. Brilliant for pistachios, olives and sweets, the Joseph Joseph Double Dish is £15 from Lifestyish.com.

A continuation of the Bojje Masher we featured yesterday, I can't resist also highlighting the Bojje Buttercup Whisk as well. Made by craftsmen in Suffolk, the whisk is formed by high-grade stainless steel wire affixed in a sweeping beech handle. The beech handle is designed to fit comfortably in the hand, making it great for whisking together light and delicate ingredients. A charming example of British production, the Bojje Buttercup Whisk is £19.95 from Not on the High Street.

Organised by British Baker Magazine, this week celebrates the fashionable and tasty cupcake. Taking Britain by storm, these small cakes let us indulge our sweet tooth in a nice sensible portion size. And while cake decorating classes have been popular for years, cupcakes allow you to try your skills on a smaller scale. In fact cupcakes are so popular there's a whole cupboard-full of kitchen products specifically for them.

Silicone cupcake cases are very popular, back in March we featured these Tea Cup Cakes. The perfect choice for a tea party, these cases add a touch of whimsy and charm to your baked treats.

Once you've decorated all your cupcakes, you want to protect them while you travel. The Lakeland Cupcake Carrier has twelve raised rings, which keep them from sliding around. Even better, the board in the Lakeland Cupcake Carrier can be turned over so you also get a smooth base for transporting cakes.

If you just want to take one cupcake, say in someone's packed lunch, the Lakeland Individual Cupcake Carrier it what you're looking for. Perfect for fairy cakes, these little cases will protect your decorations and icing.

And finally if cupcakes just aren't big enough for you, we've featured two Giant Cupcake Moulds. Whether you prefer silicone or aluminium, the Giant Cupcake Mould make a delicious dessert you can feed the whole family.

We'll be featuring more cupcake products the rest of the week. For more information about any of the products highlighted here, just click the links below to read the original articles.

I love those graphic illustrations from the sixties; they have such character and charm. So I was immediately enamoured with this small plastic lunch box! Cheerfully proclaiming 'I Love London', there's an iconic red bus and several stylish figures stood at the bus stop all within a lacy boarder. I'd eat sandwiches everyday if I got to pack them in this trendy box. A generous 15cm by 13.5cm and an impressive 7cm deep, there's plenty of room for sandwiches, biscuits and other treats. I've always had a passion for flatware. When I was ten I used my pocket money to buy a single place setting from a local outlet store. I had to search through huge bins full of random forks, knives and spoons to find a matching set of my favourite pattern. So it's with that child-like fascination that I found the Wonderland Cutlery by Tina Tsang. Handmade in England, each sculptural pewter utensil represents a different character. They are covered in beautiful details and each has a magnifying glass in the handle. Like Alice herself, you'll be able to make your food appear to grow in size (while also getting a detailed view of your dinner). Unique and charming works of art, the Wonderland Cutlery is £42.50 each from The Hidden Art Shop.

Last month as part of their birthday celebrations, Emma Bridgewater ran a bit of a photo competition. As Bridgewater fans we couldn't resist the chance to win one of their limited edition Silver Baby Mugs. So dressed up in my very best dress and carrying my Black Toast Gavy Boat we wandered down to our local park for a photo. Unfortunately we didn't win (especially after attracting the embarrassing attention of the local children in the park), but we did receive a £10 voucher for Emma Bridgewater. For the last two weeks it's been burning a hole in my pocket as I debated what I should spend it on. Should I get a personalised mug or a lovely plate? In the end I decided to put it towards something normally too expensive to buy: one of their gorgeous Glass Tumblers. We're lucky enough to own a set of their Small Wine Glasses, after finding them in an astonishing half price sale several years ago, but never expected to get anymore glassware. All the Emma Bridgewater Glassware features etched words, which match their iconic Black Toast tableware. A decadent treat courtesy of Emma Bridgewater, you can order the Glassware Tumbler for £19.95 from Emma Bridgewater's online store.

Art doesn't always have to hang on the wall or simply look pretty; the items we use can also be beautiful creations. The Lovesick Bunnies Sweet Plate offers a whimsical elegance and magic to your table. At the centre stand two small kissing rabbits, their heads popping through the top plate, frozen together forever. The traditional plate forms are softened by applying decorative lace textures, that run over the surface like an ivy. I'm quite happy to take re-useable bags with me to the grocery store; in fact I've acquired quite a collection of bags! The bit that's frustrating though is where to put these huge jute bags while I'm shopping, they often end up in the way or buried at the bottom of my cart, and apparently I'm not the only one with this problem. The new Footprint Bag Set, designed by two mums from Yorkshire, offers a small compact system that makes it painless to bring your own shopping bags. The specially designed case is small enough to fit in your glove box or handbag and hangs neatly from the supermarket trolley. Inside, the case holds four lightweight but strong bags, each in their own pocket. The set even includes a trolley 'pound' coin so you are always prepared. Practical and convenient, the Footprint Bag Set is £12.99 from Lakeland.

Recently Cath Kidston has been leading the way, bringing a nostalgic glamour to feminine pursuits. Through her vintage inspired fabrics, she captures the idealised beauty of the 40s and 50s. Reclaiming traditional skills like baking and sewing, Cath Kidston helps bring glamour to these under-appreciated arts. I love items like this Flour Shaker, that adds a soft pretty style to what often seems to be a boring tool. Inspired by an early-20th century flour dredger, the perforated lid ensures an even coating over your meat or pastry mat. The Flour shaker can also be used to sprinkle cocoa powder, icing sugar or dried herbs. A handy piece of kitchen glamour, the Flour Shaker is £6 online from Cath Kidston.

I recently took a survey that described Emma Bridgewater's tableware as 'ironic rustic'. I wasn't convinced at the time, but I think it's a fabulous description for the Bridgewater AGA. The AGA's cream enamel finish is sprinkled with the iconic Bridgewater polka dots, bringing a fun and festive style to the kitchen. Part of a limited edition collection, the Polka Dot AGA was created to celebrate AGA Rangemaster's 300-year Anniversary. Emma Bridgewater has always been a firm fan of these traditional hardworking cookers, so it's been a partnership just waiting to happen. Manufactured in Shropshire, the AGA is a classic British design perfect for pairing with Emma Bridgewater's contemporary British designs. The AGA is even made from 70% recycled materials and 70% can be recycled in the future, which adds wonderful green credentials to their locally manufactured claims. I've not seen them listed online yet, but I'm sure if you contact your local AGA Store they'll be able to point you in the right direction!

We bake a fair bit of gluten-free bread, but I often get frustrated by the odd size of our loaf tins. They make strange itty-bitty sandwiches. If you're frustrated by modern bakeware and dreaming about loafs 'like grandma used to make' Lakeland have found just the thing. Made locally in Lancashire, these traditional farmhouse loaf tins create beautiful loaves embossed with the word 'LOAF' down each side. Now I've loved the Natural Slate Cheese Board since we covered it last Christmas, so finally to have one in my hands is a pleasure. Hand crafted with a slate knife, this creates a lovely scalloped edge around the board. The Scottish Slate has a wonderful rough texture that is finished in an acrylic resin which seals and hardens the surface. This shiny finish accents the delicious textures of your cheeses making them irresistible. The stone's natural properties help keep your cheese cool, while allowing their flavours to flourish. I especially love 'The Handpicked Collection's idea to use chalk to name each of the cheeses on offer. A fabulous serving board I can't wait to use, the Natural Slate Cheese Board is £14.95.
Natural Slate Cheese Board - £14.95
We also ordered one of the Kuhn Rikon coloured knives. These bright and cheerful knives use a revolutionary process to bond the colour to the metal blade without losing its edge. But my favourite feature is the handy plastic sheath. We often take food with us when we travel, and you can't always be sure you'll find a knife where you are going. This sturdy knife sheath means you can safely take a knife along with you. Great for picnics or just when you want a fruity snack on the run, these Coloured Knives let you safely prepare meals where ever you are. Available in Blue, Green, Red, Pink and Yellow the Coloured Knives are £5.95 from 'The Handpicked Collection'.

My Mum’s been staying with us the last week, so she’d been tagging along on the search for fantastic kitchen products to feature on Kitchen Critic. She was thrilled by the Joseph Joseph Carve & Cut Chopping Board. Though it looks unassuming, Mum thinks this would be brilliant for carving the traditional Sunday roast. Designed by John Brauer, the double sided polyethylene board features an angled cutting surface. This allows the juices to drain off and collect at the bottom edge. From here they'd be easy to pour off and add to your gravy! On one side there is even a meat grip formed from raised plastic cones to keep your precious roast from sliding away. Safe to pop in the dishwasher, the plastic board will also help protect your knife’s sharp edge. Available from John Lewis, this versatile board makes carving a breeze.

A close friend of mine recently asked for my help when searching for a present for her sister’s wedding. Their grandfather had traditionally given the bride and groom practical presents including a bale of twine. With her grandfather now gone, she wished to continue the tradition but had trouble finding a suitable twine. Luckily we found the Nutscene Tin O’Twine! A part of their Heritage Collection these cute and tidy tins feature authentic labels originally used in the 1940s. Perfect for adding to a wedding basket, these brightly coloured spools of jute twine are often handy both in the garden and the kitchen. Each metal tin features a hole in the lid and ensures tangle-free twine every time. Available in black, blue, brown, green, lilac, natural, red and terracotta, we were even able to match her wedding colours! If you listen to the news these days, there doesn’t seem to be much to celebrate. But Finn Stone disagrees, instead he’s created an ironic aluminium Bowler Hat that seems to mock our current situation. Once the daily attire for businessmen and bankers, the bowler hat now symbolises historic British reserve. Certainly not a cheap investment, the Bowler Hat Ice Bucket has a solid construction and features the Finn Stone Hallmark along the rim. Use as an eccentric fruit bowl or to serve up that special bubbly and shrug of the worries of the world. A fabulous modern and unique design that will be fashionable for years the Finn Stone Bowler Hat is £129 from Rockett St George.

Cleaning is never fun, but you can now scrub your kitchen in fashion with the new Sarah Smith Cleaning Cloths! Last week Severn Delta sent us several of the brightly coloured dusters and cleaning cloths to try-out, so we got out our camera and started cleaning. The Sarah Smith Cloths offer a fine balance between disposable and re-useable. The light-weight but durable cloths can be thrown through the washer about ten times, after which you can replace grubby cloths with pretty new ones. I was impressed by how soft the Ultra Absorbent Cleaning Cloths are once wet, they lose the stiff paper feel you expect from disposable cloths and become lovely comfortable cloths that are easy to use. In contrast the Sarah Smith Dusters aren’t as soft straight out of the packet, but they are quite large so you can do a fair bit of dusting before you need to clean it off.

Available in a wide range of patterns, the Sarah Smith Collections include modern florals, graphic prints and pastel classics; so you’re sure to find something to match your own individual style. Practical cloths in bright cheerful colours, you won’t need to hide these cloths when company comes around to visit. Finally, the Sarah Smith Collections are even made in Bridgewater, Somerset! British made, highly fashionable and effective the full range of Sarah Smith Cloths are available online at www.sarah-smith.co.uk.
Pack of 3 - Sarah Smith Ultra Absorbent Cleaning Cloths - £1.50
Pack of 2 - Sarah Smith Dusting Cloths - £1.00
You should also be able to find them in your local Tesco, Sainsbury's, ASDA or Waitrose. Ocado has them listed here:

I'll admit I'm passionate about my flatware, I've always had favourite forks and knives, even as a child. To go with our relaxed tableware style, we chose the classic and elegant Stanton Cutlery. The beautiful sweeping forms are a sensual pleasure to hold, and offer a reassuring weight. Created by British Designer Robert Welch, the Stanton Cutlery is made from 18/10 stainless steel. The knives are forged from a single ingot of especially hardened steel to maintain their blades. Available in sets and individually, cost can be reduced by ordering just the pieces you'll use. We only need the basic four pieces, so a single place setting was £17.50. A classic collection that won't go out of style, you never need to worry about replacing teaspoons. Now for celebrations and special occasions, we chose the handmade Black Toast creamware by Emma Bridgewater. The cream plates feature elegant black lettering, creating a simple timeless design that will match any future kitchen or dining room style. While not extravagant, the Bridgewater tableware is on the more expensive side. To bring costs down, we only selected two place settings of Black Toast which we can then intermix with the more affordable Sandstone Corelle featured yesterday. While it can't be promised that the Black Toast pattern will be available forever, many of the Bridgewater patterns mix well for an eclectic style. A fine example of British design and craftmanship, the Bridgewater Tableware is one you can add to and collect over time. Dishwasher safe and quintessentially English, the Black Toast Tableware is available from Emma Bridgewater and John Lewis.

A wonderful creation from British Designer Kathleen Hills, this new bone china tableware blends traditional decoration with modern flare. While there is something charming about classic floral patterns, the are often too loud and over powering for modern interiors. Kathleen Hill has solved this by applying small vintage transfers to the plain white china. The geometric shapes give the floral patterns a brilliant modern edge. A fabulous way to reinterpret classic designs, the Kathleen Hills Tableware is available in 12 different patterns from Kathleen Hills Online Shop.

Never have I found this tea towel so appropriate, but with our wedding just weeks away I could use this in our kitchen! Featuring a print used originally for a World War II poster, this vintage inspired tea towel reminds you to 'Keep Calm and Carry On' no matter what disasters develop in your kitchen. The bold red makes a wonderful impact and adds a splash of intense colour to your decor. A brilliant reminder of our British history, the Keep Calm Tea Towel is as relevant today as it was 70 years ago. Available online from Pedlars Webstore, the 'Keep Calm' Tea Towel is £11.95.

I love the simple warm tiles in the Aroma Kitchen Range. Handmade in Devon, the tiles feature an outline serif font for a modern sophisticated style. Basil, Mint, Bay, Thyme, Sage & Spice are all written out in a lovely sepia on off-white tiles. Perfect for creating a focal display or simply accenting your kitchen tiles, the Wichester Aroma Kitchen Tiles add flavour to your kitchen design. For more information, contact Winchester Tile Company at www.winchestertiles.com.

The news is flying around the internet, but what kind of British site can pass up the opportunity to announce the merger of two iconic brands from the British Isles. In honour of St. Patrick’s Day, Marmite are creating a limited edition Guinness Spread. Once a staple of every WWI soldiers ration pack, Marmite is a vegan spread packed full of vitamins. Rather an acquired taste, Marmite is made from the nutritious yeast by-product of beer brewing. For this Limited Edition, a special recipe has been created that uses 30% of the unique Guinness yeast, giving it a wonderful yet subtle stout flavour. For this release the traditional Marmite bottle is dressed up in the black and white Guinness livery and features thick white cap, just like the finest pint. Supposedly available from the 18th of February it’s not yet been seen around here, but with only 300,000 bottles being produced you’d best keep a sharp eye out and snap one up. The 250g jars of Guinness Marmite retail at £2.49 at most major supermarkets.
