The Swan Act 2 Hand Towel offers a cute solution to keep your tea towel both close at hand and out of your way. The elegant ballerina dances across your counters and around your plates, her draped skirt sweeping water away as she goes. Her arching arms make a convenient loop, perfect for quickly popping over cupboard handles when something calls your attention, and at the end of the day our tired ballerina returns to her partner's arms; neatly hanging from the wall. A charming modern design, the Swan Act 2 Hand Towel Holder is £17.00 from Panik-Design, with ballerinas available in Orange and Pale Green.

While everyone has at least heard of organic vegetables and the benefits they offer, it's surprising that other plant derivatives are often ignored. Cotton production for example accounts for about 16% pesticides used worldwide. While you aren't in danger of ingesting these chemicals, they still make their way into water supplies and eco-systems. Lately there has been a growing trend for organic cotton products; small collections of clothes and towels have been released, but often they are only available in natural creams and beige. So in contrast, the new organic kitchen collection by C'est Ca is quite exciting. Featuring a modern vegetable print with trendy greens and deep purples, these fashionable kitchen gloves offer eco-friendly style. Made from non-GM plants and grown without pesticides, the pretty Turnip Apron and Oven Gloves are ideal for modern ethical kitchens. A brilliant new collection that allows you both style and ethical options, the Organic Turnip textiles by C'est Ca are available from John Lewis.

While supermarkets are encouraging us to use fewer carrier bags, the reality isn't always so simple. Carrying bulky jute bags can be inconvenient while plastic bags are small and messy. The Be-Eco offers a creative way to carry several carrier bags easily and neatly. At home the fabric draw-string bag hangs from a hook or door handle and allows you to easily store plastic bags. When you go to the store you merely take the bag with you and hang it on your shopping cart. This time the bag hangs upside down, allowing you to quickly pull out bags as you pack your shopping. A brilliant design that makes it easier to live an environmentally friendly life, the British-made Be-Eco Bag is £4.99 from Lakeland.

Find the perfect home for your tea towels can actually be more awkward than it sounds. Hanging them over oven handles and chairs can leave them in the way, while tossing them on counters often can leave them an accidental mess. Inherently they need to be kept close and conveniently to hand, yet also out of the way. With these new Clever Hooks the pincher like hook easily grabs hold. Using a neat little mechanism, the weight of the towel is what keeps it in place. The heavier your item, the stronger the Clever Hooks hold, and when you want to remove the towel you just lift the towel up and the clasp releases. A handy little addition, the Clever Hooks are perfect for keeping towels, aprons, oven mitts and other kitchen textiles tidy and accessible. Available in clear, red or grey the Clever Hook is £5.95 from thebigcookshop.co.uk.

These really are one of my favourite things in the kitchen. Fabulous sturdy bags that seem to be bottomless, the Jutexpo bags get used again and again. The brown bag on the left is from Unicorn Grocery, an independent food co-op in South Manchester. It's from a range of clever iconic bags that are quickly becoming the trendy fashion accessory for the area. It's deceptive small size makes it convenient to carrying around, yet it can hold an amazing amount of groceries. I frequently use it as packed lunch for a whole weekend's worth of food. The second bag is a new release from Tesco, across the natural pale background marches a line of ruby red ladybirds. Certainly a popular bag, we bought one late at night when the racks were fully stocked; by next morning they were all gone and we've not seen them since. Larger than the Unicorn Bag the Tesco bag has a surprisingly soft handle and loads of room. All the bags are made of Jute and easily bio-degrade at the end of their life. The insides feature a smooth coating which is at least water resistant, making them ideal for carrying frozen and chilled foods. Both bags have thick durable handles that are comfortable for carrying even heavy loads without hurting your hands. And best of all they are only £2-£3, so you can afford to leave a couple in the boot of your car. An environmentally and morally sound product that takes pride in its fairtrade policy and Climateneutral status, saving the world has never been so easy. To order a similar product on line try the Eden Project store where they have Green Jute bags for £3.50.
